Battle Royale is proud to announce its partnership with RedOctane to bring you the flagship guitar hero league and tournament of Athens, Georgia.  Just like the other more well known survival program, the rules are simple.  Win and live.

1.  Only those that are 18+ and preregistered will be allowed to compete.
You can preregister by  e-mailing sonicsnaxx@hotmail.com and leaving contact info. or by calling the sonicsnaxx headquarters at (706)254-3392 and leaving a message with your contact info.  Pre-registration ends at 12 noon on the day of the competition(s).

2.  The battle format will consist of 2 brackets of 8 combatants each. Expert division and Hard division.  Depending on the reception of our inaugural contest, future contests would incorporate medium and easy division.  In the event of more than 8 preregistered for either or both brackets, a qualifying round will be held to determine the final 8 for each bracket.  The format for the round will be high score on a random song with the top 8 scores moving on to the bracket round.  Seeding will also be determined by this high score also.  The standard Red Octane sg controller will be available at the event but all combatants are encouraged to bring their own ax if they wish.

3.  The competition will be based on a 2 out of 3 double-elimination for each round.  Each combatant gets to choose one song to play.  In the case of a third match, coin toss will determine who picks the final song.

4.  Prizes consist of G.H.O.U.L merch and caledonia club passes.  Prize distribution will be determined on the number of combatants but the winner of expert will get the choice goods.  Welcome to Battle Royale survival program.  Good Luck.

Friday, December 8th @ 4:30pm
Fordham University - Rose Hill
Keating 2nd Floor
441 East Fordham Road
Bronx, NY 10458
E-mail me at SciFiClub@fordham.edu with “Guitar Hero Charity” as the subject for more info. Fordham has a strict policy about letting non-students onto campus, but I’ll try to get anyone who is interested in.

http://www.childsplaycharity.org for more info on the charity.

Hey everybody. My name is Mikel Hernandez and I run Fordham University’s Gaming Club (dubbed CSF). Every year we have a video game benefit to raise money for the Child’s Play Charity in order to help the children in the Montefiore Children’s Hospital. This year we are not fundraising, we’re fundROCKING. The game of choice: GUITAR HERO 2.

The first tournament of the night is only open to beginners and will be set on EASY mode. Everyone will start on equal footing in this tournament, so there is no reason to shy away if you think you’ll do bad. Just grab the controller and within minutes you’ll be hitting those notes no problem.

The second tournament is for the seasoned veterans of the original Guitar Hero, the HARD mode. This is where you might want to make use of the Practice Mode, because the competition will be tough.

The final tournament is for the guitar prodigy, the Guitar God high score challenge. We will hand-pick what we believe is the hardest song in Guitar Hero 2, crank it up to EXPERT, and let people fail one by one as the insane guitar solos fill the screen with impossibly fast notes.

Don’t think you’ll be able to win in any of those three tournaments? We’ve got you covered. The final prize of the night will be given to the person who symbolizes the spirit of rock and roll while playing Guitar Hero. Headbanging, tossing up the horns, costumes, and melting faces are all encouraged for this one.

Guitar Hero of Destiny Tournament

Posted in Tournament Listings by admin on the November 2nd, 2006

Guitar Hero of Destiny Tournament Details:

There will be three tournaments, one each for the following difficulty levels:  Medium, Hard and Expert.  We will be playing Guitar Hero 2, NOT Guitar Hero 1.

Qualifying for the tournament will be free.  Just come into any Colorado Springs Game Crazy from November 8th-15th.

You will play a predetermined song according to difficulty.  You will have one chance to play the song and that score will be recorded along with your name and phone number (Players under the age of 17 will need a parent to come into the store and give their permission).  You are allowed to qualify for more than one difficulty, but should you make the cut for more than one difficulty, you will be automatically put in the most difficult category you qualified for.

After the 15th, we will get the lists of everyone who tried out and contact the contestants no later than November 17th.

Should someone try to qualify at more than one Game Crazy, we will take the score from the earliest date and disregard the rest.

The top 25 contestants in the Medium and Hard categories will be allowed into their respective tournaments.  The top 10 contestants in the Expert category will be allowed into the Expert tournament.

November 19th at 2:00pm, single elimination tournaments will be held at the following locations:

Medium- Fountain Game Crazy Store (719) 393-1205

Hard- Dublin Game Crazy Store (719) 260-1299

Expert- Research Game Crazy Store (719) 282-9022

The entree fee for the tournament itself will be $5.00.  Thanks to our sponsors, EVERYONE entered in the tournament itself will receive a prize valued at more than $5.00.  Initial prizes will be revealed to contestants when they are contacted.  Grand prizes are still being determined.

Players are encouraged to bring their own guitar controller as long as it has not been modified.  We will also have controllers at the tournament.

The tournament will be in a seeded format (i.e. #1 against #25).  Songs will be chosen for each round randomly from the complete initial songlist.  NO bonus songs will be chosen.  The highest score in the Medium and Hard difficulties will receive a first-round bye.

After the tournaments are over, all names and phone numbers will be destroyed so they can’t be used for purposes outside of the tournament.
