Sony BMG Music Entertainment and FYE present “Be a Guitar Hero” Release Party & Competition.
Come join FYE on Saturday, November 11th at NOON and compete against others by playing the new game Guitar Hero 2. Prizes from Sony BMG and Red Octane will be awarded to winners!
Those who wish to enter will need to bring their own guitar controller. All must register in-store at FYE by November 9th.
Competition will be single elimination with songs chosen at random.

We are pleased to announce that The GW Gaming League will be hosting a Guitar Hero II Launch Party on November 12, sponsored by RedOctane! You are invited to celebrate the title’s upcoming release with us at The George Washington University’s Grand Ballroom, in the heart of our nation’s capitol in Washington, DC.
Entry to the party is FREE and open to all. There will be freeplay for both Guitar Hero I and Guitar Hero II, free food and drink (with energy drinks provided by Red Bull), and a live band.

Party begins at 2pm, individual tournament times TBA. Party will end by around Midnight.
IN ADDITION, tournaments for both games will be run for prizes, to be announced prior to the event:
1. Guitar Hero I Tournament, $10 Buy-In (RSVP), $15 at the door
- Expert Mode Only
- Double Elimination
– Player 1 chooses first song
– Player 2 chooses second song
– Moderator picks third in the event of a tie
2. Guitar Hero II: Singles Tournament
- Medium ($5 Buy-In) and Expert Modes $10 Buy-In (RSVP), $15 at the door
- Double Elimination
– Player 1 chooses first song
– Player 2 chooses second song
– Moderator picks third in the event of a tie
3. Guitar Hero II: Doubles Tournament
- Expert Mode Only ($15 Buy-In Per Team)
- Double Elimination
– Team 1 chooses first song

– Moderator picks third in the event of a tie

Tournament participants under age 18 should be accompanied by parent or guardian, or bring signed permission. You are invited to bring your own controllers for the tournament: only approved, standard RedOctane SG controllers will be permitted, but you are encouraged to bring any modded or third party controllers for free-play (or to show off =)). Controllers will also be provided.
PLEASE RSVP with gaming at gwu dot edu, indicating which tournament(s) you would like to participate in. You may participate in any of the tournaments, but must pick either medium or expert mode for the GH2 singles tournament.

Guitar Hero 2 Release Party
The Guitar Hero 2 Release Party will be hosted by BGA on Wednesday, November 8th, beginning at 9:15pm in the Cypress TV Lounge. The tournament will be single elimination.
To play in the Guitar Hero 2 Tournament will be free if our sponsorships work out and if you win the tournament you get a Guitar Hero 2 Bundle: 1 PS2 game and 1 Guitar. More prizes may be announced. There will be free food!

The prizes provided by NJIT organizations can only be won by NJIT students, however the prizes provided by RedOctane can be won by anyone.

So You Wanna Be a Guitar Hero? A FREE Guitar Hero Tournament in Bloomington, IN is signing up in the Bloomington Best Buy store now. Each difficulty level will be represented. The Easy Tournament will start at 11:00am on Oct. 28th. The rest will be determined based on the number of entrants. Anyone 18 or older can participate in the tournament. Anyone under 18 must have written permission from their parent(s) or legal guardian.
Tournament Set-up and Guidelines:
The tournament will be setup in a 1 vs. 1 format with rounds consisting of a “best 2 of 3 songs” format for the winner to advance to the next round.
The songs being played in each round will be determined by the participants in the round. A coinflip will be used to determine who gets first song choice. The loser of the coinflip will choose the 2nd song, and, in the case of a 3rd song tie-break, the tournament organizer will pick a song at random.
Song difficulty will begin at the Medium level for the opening round of play, and as the tournament proceeds, the difficulty levels will increase to Hard, and eventually Expert for the Quarterfinals through the Finals.
Tournament seeding will be determined at random by the tournament organizers after registration has closed.
Tournament will be single-elimination. Free play will be available after the completion of the tournament.
All participants must register before the tournament by coming in-person to CD Tradepost and filling out the sign-up sheet.
Registration for the tournament will end on 11/15/06 at store closing.
There will be guitar controllers available for use at the tournament. Participants are welcome to bring their own guitar controllers for use in the tournament, but they are subject to prior approval by event organizers before they are used in competition.
Prizes will be announced one week prior to the event.
